Commissioner Discusses CBP’s

Development of a New Trade Strategy

 

 

 

In his June 24, 2008 written statement before the Senate Finance Committee, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Basham discussed the development of CBP's new trade strategy.

 

(At the May 9, 2008 Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of the Customs and Border Protection and Related Homeland Security Functions (COAC) meeting, Commissioner Basham announced that CBP would be seeking help from COAC to develop a new trade strategy. Other CBP officials described the overall vision for CBP's trade strategy as a multi-layered risk management approach where legitimate goods enter the U.S. rapidly and harmful or noncompliant goods are deterred or intercepted.)
