President Closes
Federal Government on December 24th
(CBP Issues Instructions)
President Bush has issued an Executive Order which closes the executive
departments and agencies of the Federal Government on Monday, December 24,
2007, the day before Christmas Day, with the following exception:
The heads of executive branch departments and agencies may determine
that certain offices and installations of their organizations, or parts thereof,
must remain open and that certain employees must report for duty on December
24, 2007, for reasons of national security or defense or other public need.
December 24th to be Treated as CBP Holiday
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection ABI administrative
message, December 24, 2007 will be treated as a federal (CBP) holiday just like
December 25, 2007.
Instructions for Payment Due Dates for Entry Summaries
CBP states that the following instructions regarding payment due dates
for entry summaries should be used:
Before 1 pm December 11. An entry summary previously transmitted with a payment due date of
December 24, 2007 will appear on a Statement on December 26, 2007, which means
two separate Statements may be generated on December 26, 2007.
Filers who wish to change the payment print date from December 24 to
December 26 for previously transmitted
entry summaries may do so at their discretion.
1 pm December 11 and after. Entry summaries transmitted to ABI after approximately 1:00 pm, EST,
on December 11, 2007 will be rejected if a payment due date of December 24,
2007 is used. Those entries should be transmitted with a payment due date of
December 26, 2007.
