DDTC Announces Defense Export

Licensing Procedures

that Will be in Effect Through January 2007

 

 

 

The State Department's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) has issued a letter to the defense export community in order to provide details of licensing procedures that will be in effect through January 2007.

 

According to the letter, with the impending introduction of more forms on the D-Trade electronic license processing system that DDTC expects that by the end of 2006, the majority of defense export license applications will be processed electronically through D-Trade. DDTC states that such processing would eliminate the need to submit paper copies of backup documentation for applications submitted under the legacy Electronic License Entry (ELLIE) system.

 

However, DDTC notes that it still has a large number of "paper" cases that must be processed before the benefits gained by D-Trade may be fully realized.
