CBP Issues Expanded Update and
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued an expanded trade update on Hurricane Rita, dated October 4, 2005, which lists the status of ports of entry in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi that were in the path of Hurricane Rita and/or that are recovering from Hurricane Katrina. In addition, CBP has also issued a trade questions-and-answers (Q&A) document in response to Hurricane Rita.
The operating status of ports in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi remains unchanged from CBP's October 3, 2005 update on Hurricane Rita. (See ITT's Online Archives or 10/05/05 news, (Ref: 05100520), for BP summary of the October 3, 2005 update.)
Additional Info Contained in Hurricane Rita Expanded Update
In addition to listing the operating status of ports affected by Hurricanes Rita and/or Katrina, CBP's trade update provides information on the following areas of concern:
· Contingency plan for CBP trade operations due to Hurricane Rita;

CBP Issues Trade Q&As in Response to Hurricane Rita
CBP has also issued a Trade Q&A document in response to Hurricane Rita, which contains 11 questions on topics such as: entry summary payments, RLF entries in Beaumont/Port Arthur, October 2005 brokers exam, freight destined to Beaumont/Port Arthur, filing foreign trade zone (FTZ) entries in Beaumont/Port Arthur, filing paired entries, etc.
