CITA to Consider Petition Filed for

Reapplication of China Safeguard Quota on

Cat 349/649

The International Trade Administration (ITA) has posted a fact sheet to its Web site announcing that on December 22, 2004, the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) agreed to consider a request (petition) filed by certain textile groupsrequesting a reapplication of the safeguard quota on cotton and/or man-made fiber (MMF) brassieres and other body supporting garments (cat 349/649) from China.

 

According to the ITA, CITA will now consider, as alleged in the request, whether imports of such brassieres and other body supporting garments from China “threaten the U.S. with market disruption, and whether imports of the subject products from China will play a role in that increase and in the threat of market disruption."
