  TITLE: MIS-NEW TRUCK E-MANIFEST IN-BOND FUCNTIONALITY
  PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION ALONG TO YOUR TRUCK CARRIERS.

  ON JANUARY 26, 2008, A PROGRAMMING ENHANCEMENT IS SCHEDULED TO GO TO
  PRODUCTION THAT WILL EXTEND TO TRUCK CARRIERS VIA THE ANSI X12 353 SET
  AND EDIFACT CUSREP AND BROKERS THROUGH THE WP FUNCTION THE CAPABILITY TO
  ARRIVE AND EXPORT INBONDS BY CONTAINER/EQUIPMENT.  THIS CAPABILITY
  ALREADY EXISTS IN THE SEA AND RAIL ENVIRONMENTS.  BY ARRIVING/EXPORTING
  BY CONTAINER/EQUIPMENT ALL THE INBONDS AND BILLS ASSOCIATED WITH THAT
  CONTAINER/EQUIPMENT ARE ARRIVED/EXPORTED AT THE SAME TIME.  THE
  UNDERLYING ASSUMPTION BEHIND THE ARRIVAL/EXPORT BY CONTAINER/EQUIPMENT
  IS THAT ALL THE INBONDS WITHIN THE CONTAINER ARE GOING TO THE SAME
  INBOND DESTINATION PORT.   IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT IN THE TRUCK
  ENVIRONMENT INBONDS DESTINED FOR MULTIPLE PORTS MAY BE TRANSPORTED TO
  THEIR DESTINATIONS IN THE SAME TRUCK.  THIS IS ESPECIALLY THE CASE
  WHEN THE THE INBONDS ARE CREATED BY BROKERS USING THE QP FUNCTION.
  CONSEQUENTLY, IN A SITUATION WHERE MULTIPLE INBONDS GOING TO MULTIPLE
  DESTINATIONS ARE IN THE SAME TRUCK, THE ARRIVAL/EXPORT BY CONTAINER/
  EQUIPMENT FUNCTION CANNOT BE USED.  CARRIERS AND BROKERS MUST ARRIVE/
  EXPORT THEIR INBONDS BY INBOND NUMBERS OR BY BILL OF LADING NUMBERS.
  TO ARRIVE/EXPORT BY CONTAINER/EQUIPMENT NUMBERS WILL CAUSE ALL THE
  INBONDS TO BE ARRIVED, EVEN THOSE DESTINED FOR OTHER PORTS.  WHEN THESE
  INBONDS REACH THEIR ORIGINAL DESTINATIONS, PENALTIES OR REDELIVERY
  NOTICES COULD BE ISSUED.
